DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY/SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION OFFER E-VERIFY FREE TO EMPLOYERS
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Social Security Administration (SSA) have partnered to offer employers free of charge the ability to verify Form I-9 information with data held by DHS and the SSA. The E-Verify system (formerly the Basic Pilot/Employment Eligibility Verification Program) is an online system that allows employers to check the work status of newly hired employees.
