Americans With Disabilities Amendments Act of 2008 Takes Effect
As reported in previous issues of this publication, the Americans With Disabilities Amendments Act of 2008 was passed and signed into law in September 2008. This important new statute goes into effect January 1, 2009. Employers are strongly encouraged to revisit their policies, employee handbooks and management training procedures to ensure that they are compliant with provisions of this law. New FMLA Regulations Take Effect January 16, 2009
As reported in the November 2008 issue of the SLF Labor and Employment Alert, the new regulations promulgated by the U.S. Department of Labor regarding the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 go into effect on January 16, 2009. These new regulations address various aspects of the FMLA, including the new military family leave entitlements as well as other changes of which employers should be aware.
